Pros and Cons of Online Degrees
Online Education: The Benefits

Getting a degree online is becoming more and more of an option for high school graduates as well as for older Americans.

Going to college by sitting in front of one's own personal computer is just about as easy as it can get.

Progressing at your own pace, not having to be at a certain place at a certain time, going to class in your jammies...all of these things are very appealing to people of all ages...the young and the old alike.

Another real benefit with getting an education and a college degree online is the cost. Going to a brick-and-mortar college or university means that the student and/or his family are going to be in debt for years as they struggle to pay off student loans.

A college education online can be paid for as you go, and there doesn't have to be a mountain of debt waiting to be retired when the student gets his or her degree.

Time is yet another beneficial factor of an online education and an online degree. Brick-and-mortar colleges and universities have this annoying habit of expecting students to show up for class on time and on specified days of the week.

Attending classes online can be done at any time that is convenient for that online student.

Usually lectures are posted online, and the online student can either read them online of download them or both. Assignments are also posted online.

The timeframe for turning in assignments is usually much less stringent than that of colleges and universities out in the real world.

There are a multitude of reasons and advantages for taking college courses online and either partially or entirely earning a college degree online.

It is an option that many parents and students are choosing more and more often.

Religious Degrees Online

People get online religious degrees online every day. It is not an unusual circumstance.

There are brick-and-mortar schools dedicated to religious instruction and preparation of students for careers that are religion-based, of course, but these schools are not located in places that are convenient or even possible for many who would like to earn a degree in religion to attend.

Additionally, people who wand to earn degrees in religion want to earn them based upon the religion that they practice and believe in. That is where online degrees in religion can help.

No matter what religious beliefs that you want your degree in religion to be based upon, you can find an online degree program that will meet your requirements.

An evangelical Christian will want to enroll in a program that is based upon his evangelical religious beliefs, for example.

Many people enroll in online or distance learning religious education courses to learn to read Arabic or Hebrew.

Some people enroll in religious courses online to simply satisfy their curiosity or to gain a greater understanding of their faith.

Many churches stipulate that their ministers, associate ministers, and youth counselors have college diplomas....not all, of course, but some.

Organized religions all have a business structure, and some religions demand that those who work within that business structure are educated in the beliefs of the organization as well as in business.

Online education, or distance learning as it is sometimes called, can make earning a degree in religion much easier and less expensive for students.

Oftentimes brick-and-mortar schools that teach religion are even more financially strapped than other learning institutions, and tuition can be very expensive. Online education and earning an online degree can be done for a fraction of the cost.

Online Degree Scams

The world is full of scam artists and just plain old garden variety crooks. They show up where ever there is money to be made.

Since online education is one of the fastest-growing and most lucrative fields around today, these scam artists and crooks are out in full force.

I hate to have to be the one to point this out, but the fact is that the people who most often get scammed are those who are looking for the easy way out. They set themselves up to get taken.

Anybody who thinks that they can simply buy a college degree like going to the corner store and buying a loaf of bread are just asking to be taken. While getting a college degree does take money, it requires so much more than money.

It requires study, and it requires working through many difficult problems and assignments satisfactorily. A college degree can't be just BOUGHT...it must also be earned, either online or offline.

It really isn't hard to locate these online college degree scams. The best of them will simply print you a diploma and mail it to you for a price.
The worst of them will put up a front that requires you to write a paper or two, and then you get your diploma.

They fool you into believing that you in some way earned the fake degree that is worth less than the price of the paper that it is printed on.

When anything looks too good to be true, it IS too good to be true. That is a good principle to live by, and you should always check to be certain that the online college or university that you choose is one that is accredited.

You can bet that it will take more than writing a paper or two to get a diploma.
