Associate's Degrees Online
Online Education Certificates

What exactly is a certificate, and how does it differ from a degree? Certificates and degrees are two entirely different things.

A college degree means that a person has completed a pre-set and prescribed course of study that covers many aspects of education. All college graduates will have successfully completed courses in English, literature, mathematics, science, etc., no matter what their degree major is.

A certificate, on the other hand, means that a person has successfully completed a prescribed course in a specific field. He has not taken courses in English, literature, mathematics, science, etc. He has only studied a very specific and narrow subject.

Once he completes this prescribed course of study, he is given a certificate that indicates his successful completion.

Certificates are issued by brick-and-mortar colleges and universities as well as online colleges and universities.

A certificate can serve the needs of students who have very well-defined goals.

Certificate programs are focused on the mastery of particular skills rather than on a broad education that a degree provides.

Certificates can save students time as well as money by allowing them to take courses that focus entirely upon the skills that they need to achieve specific goals.

Certificates can be earned in such widely varying fields as paralegal, financing, and health care.

A certificate issued for successful completion of a course concerning forensic nursing, case management or geriatric care can help those in the health care field narrow their specialties, for example.

There are even certification programs that are tied directly to professional licensing or certification examinations.

Almost all of the certificates that can be gotten in real-world brick-and-mortar colleges and universities can also be gotten online.

Acquiring online certificates can prove to be much less expensive and easier on the time requirements.

Online Degree Equals More Money
Online Degree Equals More Money

The earning pyramid works something like this. On the bottom are those who do not have a GED (General Education Diploma). They will earn less than anybody else over their lifetimes.

The next lowest earners are those who have a GED or who just barely got through high school by the skin of their teeth.

The next highest earning level are those who completed high school while earning good grades and got their high school diploma.

On the next level are those who have associate's degrees; then comes the level that has Bachelor of Arts or Science degrees.

Above that level are those who have master's degrees, and above them are the ones who have doctorates.

It is just a fact of life. The more education you have, the more earning potential you gain. Unless you were born rich, you need earning potential.

Without a college degree, most people will slave away all of their lives in dead-end jobs while just barely scraping by financially.

They won't have many, if any, luxuries and will consider themselves fortunate if they have the necessitates. An online college degree can greatly improve their prospects.

Online college degrees offer virtually the same opportunities for earning power that degrees obtained at brick-and-mortar colleges offer. The main differences are the cost of each and the time required to get them.

Those who are well past college age don't have to give up the dream of getting a college education and improving their lifetime earning power.

They can take college courses online at a very reasonable cost and at their own pace. Eventually, they will accumulate enough credits to be granted a college degree, and then the sky is the limit.
